Vincent Hyman
Vince has been performing jazz, Latin, and classical music in the
Twin Cities since 1976, working on percussion, vibraphone, marimba,
and piano. As a vibraphonist and pianist, Vince has served numerous
Latin groups, including his own group, Latin Wave, and in many other
jazz groups, notably ensembles led by Kico Rangel and Steve Westby,
appearing at the Dakota, the Artist's Quarter, Babalu, Dixie's on Grand,
the Luxe, Sophia's, and many other locales. As a marimbist, he performed
on the Prairie Home Companion Show with the mmmMarimba quartet, and can
now be heard around town performing with various mariachi and tropical
ensembles.
As a percussionist, he has performed with the Dale Warland
Singers, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, St. Paul Civic Symphony, and the
Minnesota Composers Forum. He studied classical piano with Beatrice
Ohanessian of the Baghdad Symphony, and percussion with Marvin Dahlgren
and Paula Culp of the Minnesota Orchestra.
